Season’s Greetings 2024

Back to insights

By David Andrew Capital Partners News

It’s hard to believe the year is coming to an end. I’m wondering what happened to it?

The festive season is a lovely time to pause and reflect on the year past, and the year ahead.  My overwhelming reflection this year is gratitude for the safe, healthy, and prosperous environment we enjoy here in Australia.

Despite the media’s constant reminders about the ‘cost of living crisis,’ we enjoy a quality of life unequalled anywhere in the world.

The expression of gratitude for what we do enjoy is a wonderful emotion. It lifts us up to see the world in a positive light. That’s because gratitude can’t co-exist with negativity. It’s impossible to be grateful and angry at the same time – just as it’s impossible to be grateful and envious – or grateful and judgmental.

At Capital Partners we thrive on teamwork and gratitude. Our team meetings always start with our positive focus. Each team-member shares one personal and one professional win, as a reminder of how much we have to be thankful for.

Having a gratitude mindset keeps us positive, and creates an enjoyable environment to work in. I hope you have felt this positive approach in all your dealings with us this year.

Your success stories

There’s nothing more satisfying for a financial adviser than seeing clients achieve important life milestones. Sometimes these achievements are years in the making.

This year has seen our clients retire, start businesses, sell businesses, downsize homes, help children, help parents, start charitable foundations, buy holiday homes, travel the world, and so much more.

The idea that we can help you explore what’s possible with money and then see you create a bigger future is truly empowering.

We love being on life’s journey with you!

25th anniversary celebration

We are half-way through our 25th Anniversary Year, and it has been wonderful to share this milestone with our clients. Having over 300 of you join us at Fraser’s in Kings Park was a highlight, and a reminder of the warm relationships we have enjoyed over many years with your families.

I won’t repeat my anniversary reflections but you can find them here.

A commitment to excellence

At the FAAA Congress in Brisbane we were once again honoured as Australian Professional Practice of the Year for 2024.  This is the most prestigious award for a professional practice and recognises our commitment to our clients, the profession, and our community.

It’s not that long ago that the Hayne Royal Commission exposed the poor advice practices of the banks, other large institutions, and rogue advisers. Since then, adviser numbers have dropped from 30,000 to 10,000 and I now see a true profession emerging.

We were also ranked #3 in the WRK+ Best Places to Work in Australia awards.

Succession

As many of you know, we have been preparing ourselves for the next generation of leadership in Capital Partners.

During the year we welcomed David Rossbach, Rachel Goh, Yasmin Weston, Emma Zwaan and Aden Wilkins to the ownership group. We now have 16 owners, across three generations.

In January 2025, Charmaine Lamprecht will be appointed as managing director, to lead the firm. Charmaine has been in leadership roles for over ten years, most recently as chief operating officer. My focus as founder will move to our long-term strategy, the development of future leaders, and enhancing our client experience.

Community

Our commitment in the community has increased this year. We feel that as our success grows, so should our support for the WA community that has been so kind to us.

This year we supported the first scholarship in Financial Planning at Curtin University. The scholarship supports a second- and third-year student who demonstrates academic excellence. This is just a small part of our commitment to financial planning becoming a true profession.

We were also proud to support:

  • The Hawaiian Ride for Youth as training jersey sponsor.
  • The Bunker Bay 300 Ride to support youth mental health services.
  • Perth Symphony Orchestra’s performances of Albert Facey’s – ‘A Fortunate Life.’
  • Charlies’ Foundation for Medical Research – ‘Be a Champ for Charlies Day.’
  • Harry Perkins Institute for Medical Research.

As we close the year, thank you for the trust and confidence you place in us. It is a pleasure to serve you and your families.

We are all looking forward to a well-earned break over Christmas and New Year to spend time with our loved ones and to recharge our batteries… but we are also excited about the opportunities 2025 will bring!

From all of us here at Capital Partners, we wish you and your family a safe and happy festive season!
